AYR SEAFIELD GOLF CLUB - LOCAL RULES

 

1.   If a ball comes to rest against or near a staked tree or is within a staked area, it may be lifted and dropped within one club length from the tree or the nearest point of relief outwith the staked area, not nearer the hole, without penalty
2.   The wall running through the course is a boundary wall, except on the eighth hole.
3.   A ball is out of bounds if it comes to rest -
  (a) over or through any opening in the wall, except from the eighth tee;
  (b) on Doonfoot Road at the sixth, eleventh or twelfth holes;
  (c) on the artificial surface of the car or bus parks at the second or eighteenth holes;
  (d) on the roadway between the eighteenth green and the first tee;
  (e) in any fenced-in wood or over the fence at the eighteenth hole;
  (f ) on the short grass of the playing fields immediately adjacent to the left-hand uncut rough at the thirteenth hole.
4.   If a ball comes to rest on the surface of the roadway crossing the second, fourth or fifth holes, it may be lifted and dropped not nearer the hole without penalty.
5.   If a ball comes to rest on the pathway from Doonfoot Road to the Old Racecourse Clubhouse at the twelfth hole, it may be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole, without penalty
6   A ball coming to rest near or against the boundary wall of the clubhouse or changing rooms at the twelfth hole shall be played as it lies i.e. no free relief.
7.   If a ball comes to rest on any approach to a bridge which has been overlaid with wood chips, it may be lifted and dropped within one club length from the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole, without penalty
8.   The fence between the seventh green and the eleventh tee is an immovable obstruction
9.   The ditches alongside the fourteenth and eighteenth fairways and the burn running parallel with the fairway beyond the left-hand bridge at the second are all lateral water hazards.
10.   Through the green, a ball that is embedded in its own pitch mark in the ground, other than in sand, may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the course through the green.
11.   Through the green, a ball which comes to rest on an aeration hole may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the course through the green. On the putting green, the player shall place the ball at the nearest spot not nearer the hole which avoids such situation.
12.   The bridges and approaches to bridges are integral parts of the course
13.   In any bunker, should a stone be near a ball in such a position that there is a fair likelihood of injury to a player or any other person or damage to a club or ball, the stone shall be declared a moveable obstruction and can be removed without penalty. If the ball moves while the stone is being removed, the ball shall be replaced in its original position.
14.   Seeded divots constitute "Ground Under Repair".
15.   Through the green, if a ball comes to rest in a mark caused by a tractor, a player may obtain relief without penalty.
16.   Through the green, ground that has been returfed and has not "settled", and ground from which turf has been removed, shall be treated as "Ground Under Repair
17.   The brick manhole cover on the eighteenth hole is an immovable obstruction
18.   Areas contained by white lines, other than lines prohibiting passage of caddy cars, constitute "Ground Under Repair".
19.   Care should be taken when approaching the third tee as priority must be given to any game on the eighteenth tee.
20.   When the "Winter Fairway" rule is in operation, any ball coming to rest on the fairway on the tee side of the posts and to be lifted may be placed in the rough on either side of the fairway. Exception: the ball need not be lifted if the club to be used to play the ball is a putter.
